Since the 1990s, Walrus Books has offered a successful enterprise of children’s fiction and non-fiction titles. Picture books like Gilbert de la Frogponde and Dog Tales by Jennifer Rae have become standards for library reading programs across Canada and the United States. We often have the benefit of finding new authors to introduce to the children’s picture book scene, such as Dianna Bonder (Accidental Alphabet and Dogabet), and Karen Johnston (Mr. Bob’s Magic Ride in the Sky).
Our non-fiction titles are known across North America for their engaging approach to knowledge and their scientific accuracy. Diane Swanson’s Safari Beneath the Sea won the Orbis Pictus Award, North America’s highest honour for juvenile non-fiction. Joan Marie Galat’s Dot to Dot in the Sky series has become a Canadian bestseller and has recently been sold into Korea.
Walrus Books also publishes series fiction for teenaged readers. We currently have three series on the go: Jane Ray Wildlife Rescue series by Diane Haynes; Wild Horse Creek series by Sharon Siamon; and Horse Mad series by Kathy Helidoniotis
